NJ Transit completes the installation of the new ticket vending machine

The Trenton-New Jersey Transportation Company stated that it has completed the installation of 558 new ticket vending machines, including contactless payment options.

"These new customer-friendly TVMs-now installed system-wide-are just one aspect of the comprehensive modernization of NJ Transit's entire fare collection system, including new handheld mobile devices for train crews, new on-board bus validators and Many new mobile ticketing options," said Kevin Corbett, president and CEO of New Jersey Transportation.

The larger "Fare Modernization Plan" also includes new ticket validators on buses, hand-held validators for train staff, and future new NJ Transit fare cards.

Corbett said: "All of these methods include a'contactless' fare payment option. It turns out that when we get out of the pandemic, these methods are especially popular and popular with customers returning to our system."

NJT said that the new ticket vending machine also provides faster transaction times, but emphasizes the ability to purchase tickets using contactless cards or mobile wallet applications, so that people no longer insert credit or debit cards into the machine.

These machines are also equipped with faster printers and an overhead display to provide passengers with travel information about trains arriving and leaving the station.
