We have seen many VR games inspired by arcade classics. However, in Escape From Galaxen, you are actually trapped in an arcade game console.

A Quest demo of this new game from Spanish studio Ramen Profitable Games is now available on SideQuest. In it, the player is portrayed as a kid tumbling in an arcade in 1985. Inspired by classic games such as Space Invaders, you will play games using a first-person perspective, and these weapons were also inspired by classic games, toys, and console peripherals from that era. For example, you hold something that looks like an NES Zapper in one hand, while waving a toy sword in the other hand. At the same time, Powerups equips you with plastic machine guns and more.

When you shoot at aliens, they will backfire, and you can block it with your sword. The level also includes boss battles, and the Quest 2 version of the game will support a 90 Hz refresh rate.

For VR games, this is an interesting idea. It also reminds us of the Pixel Ripped series and more obvious influences like Tron. There is no trailer for this game yet, but you can see its actual effect on YouTube.

The complete game is planned to be released on Quest headsets before the end of this year.
