Anne Heche was taken off life support yesterday, after recipients for her organs were found.  Anne was declared brain dead on Friday, but was kept alive until it was time to donate her organs. Multiple organs will be donated, but the family didn’t say which ones. Anne was facing a possible felony DUI charge, but obviously, the LAPD dropped its investigation.  Prior to her death it was reported that she’d been under the influence of cocaine and possibly fentanyl when she crashed her car into a house in Los Angeles and caused a serious fire.  She was 53 years old. Ellen DeGeneres, who famously dated Anne from 1997 to 2000, Tweeted, quote, “This is a sad day.  I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love.”  Anne’s subsequent relationships were all with men.  She was married once and had two kids.

Author Salman Rushdie is on the road to recovery after being stabbed Friday in Western New York state. Rushdie was about to give a speech in New York when 24-year-old Hadi Matar ran up onstage and stabbed him several times.  Rushdie suffered liver damage and severed nerves in one arm and one eye. He will probably lose the eye, and while he’s headed in the right direction, this will be a long recovery. This was likely an assassination attempt based on the FATWA that was issued against Rushdie back in 1988 by Iran’s spiritual leader, the Ayatollah, over Rushdie’s book, “The Satanic Verses”. The book was considered offensive to Muslims.

In an interview with ABC News in December, Alec Baldwin denied he pulled the trigger of the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchinson the set of the movie “Rust”.

But the FBI forensic report is in, and the experts say the gun, quote, “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger.” Alec’s attorney would like you to know that the FBI report doesn’t mean he’s guilty.  Quote, “The critical report is the one from the medical examiner, who concluded that this was a tragic accident.” This is the third time the New Mexico authorities have found that Alec Baldwin had no authority or knowledge of the allegedly unsafe conditions on the set, that he was told by the person in charge of safety on the set that the gun was ‘cold,’ and believed the gun was safe.”

More theatrical screenings have been announced for Clerks III.  Lionsgate had previously announced that Clerks III would show in theaters for two days only, which would be Sept. 13 and Sept. 15. Because of the high demand for more screenings, four more theatrical dates have been added: Sept. 14, 16, 17, and 18. In other words, the film will screen in theaters from Sept. 13-18.

There’s trouble brewing underneath the Disney umbrella.  Mark Ruffalo. . . who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Universe . . . threw some serious shade at “Star Wars” in a new interview. Mark is playing Hulk again in the Disney+ show “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, and he says he’s not worried about there being too much Marvel content. Quote, “The thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness. Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material…If you watch a ‘Star Wars’, you’re pretty much going to get the same version of ‘Star Wars’ each time . . . But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling even within the Marvel Universe.”

Tom Holland announced he’s taking a social media break for his mental health.  He said Instagram and Twitter are overstimulating and overwhelming. Quote, “I get caught up, and I spiral when I read things about me online, and, ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.” He only jumped back on to let everyone know how he’s been feeling, and to promote a U.K. charity that his Brothers Trust foundation sponsors.  It’s called Stem4 and it supports teenage mental health.

The Brad Pitt action film Bullet Train led all movies in ticket sales for a second straight weekend, while a quiet spell in theaters allowed Top Gun: Maverick to rocket back into third place in its 12th week of release. Globally, Bullet Train has grossed $114.5 million.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has once again said that he doesn’t know exactly when and where the final concert of the band’s “End Of The Road” tour will take place. KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to put it on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “End Of The Road” was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but has since been extended to at least early 2023. Gene discussed KISS’s last-ever performance: he said “it’ll be the last show. KISS the touring band will stop. But the touring band. KISS will continue in other ways. I have no problems with four deserving 20-year-olds sticking the makeup back on and hiding their identity.”

Aerosmith will resume its 2022 after Steven Tyler relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program earlier this year. Tyler’s feeling good and is ready to rock, writing last week on social media “Not to toot my own horn but get ready to be blown away!” The tour resumes in Maine on September 4th.

Last week, we found out that Michelle Branch and her husband Patrick Carney of the Black Keys were getting divorced.  Michelle issued a statement saying she was “totally devastated” and had the rug pulled out from under her . . . and she claimed she found out that Patrick was CHEATING on her. Well, there’s a little bit more to the story.  After their split was announced, Michelle was ARRESTED by Nashville police for domestic assault.  She’s accused of slapping Patrick one or two times in the face. Michelle and Patrick started dating in 2015 and were married in 2019.  They have a son who’s 4 and a daughter who was just born in February.  Michelle also has a child from a previous marriage.

Country superstar Morgan Wallen sure knows how to entertain a crowd, as demonstrated by last night’s (Aug. 13) headlining show at the three-day Tidalwave Music Festival in Atlantic City, N.J. Although his set included plenty of expected fan favorites – such as a few from 2021’s Dangerous: The Double Album, which he’s currently supporting – he also surprised everyone by incorporating Linkin Park’s beloved “In the End” into a larger medley. If you’re lucky enough to see this in concert you’d also here..You Give Love A Bad Name, Sugar Were Going Down, and Pour Some Sugar On Me.

Remember back in June when Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander tried to crash her wedding?  He has been convicted of aggravated trespassing and battery.  Here’s when he walked onto her property, was confronted by security, and bragged to some of the workers who he was. The penalty?  He pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor counts and was sentenced to the 64 days he’d already served in jail.  Prosecutors dropped charges of felony stalking and misdemeanor vandalism.  Jason’s 40 years old.

After 25 years Metallica’s James Hetfield filed for divorce from his wife, Francesca, earlier this year. The two met in 1992 and were married in 1997.  They share three children together. Hetfield had long credited Francesca with helping him through his dark times, specifically with anger issues, revealing that she once threatened to take the kids out of their home if he couldn’t control his temper.

Ringo Starr put down the drumsticks on Saturday and picked up his phone, much to the shock and awe of his two million Twitter followers. Clearly Ringo was trying to give a plug to the Blu-ray release of the Peter Jackson series Get Back. For some reason, though, he included his feet. Some of the responses were positive (“The feet that pounded out the beat!” one person said), and some seemed quite delighted (“for free!” was an alarmingly common reaction), but most seemed to suggest the image was ill-considered. The dialogue continued, with one Twitter user writing “bestie pls stop putting dogs on our tl we’re begging.”

Spotify has quietly just launched its own ticket-selling website. The company will let you know when the artists you play on Spotify have a show coming up. Tickets.Spotify.com has only seven artists featured on their page so far as the company’s running it more as a “test site”. The streamer also says you won’t have to close Spotify to buy your tickets from other sites now. See which artists you like have shows coming up in your Spotify’s “My Events” tab.

Weezer has canceled its Broadway residency over “low ticket sales and unbelievably high expenses,” according to the band. The band set a week-long residency at The Broadway Theatre in September to perform cycles of their SZNZ project. Frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote on Discord “I’m very sorry to be telling you this now after we’ve already invested so much time, thought, and emotion. Extra apologies to those of you who cleared schedules and made travel plans to be with us.” Cuomo added that the band hopes to “resurrect the vision” of the show.

While down 2-0 to the brewers in the 2nd, Albert Pujols went 434 ft deep to left field. As the Cardinals hit the 6th Tyler O’Neill smashed one to center to tie it up. And then the bottom of the 8th was upon us and Dylan Carlson homered as was followed by Pujols second homer of the game, a 3 run bomb as Danny Mac said to give the cards the 6-3 win. 2 curtain calls for Albert. In the spring of 2021, there were talks of a potential Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson exhibition but that is never gonna happen. The Real Deal Holyfield tells TMZ Sports, that it’s just too late for the legends to square up again now. “It’s too late,” the former boxing champ sadly said. The two originally fought back in 1996 and 1997 and both fights were epic leading many to believe a third, less-serious match a couple of decades later would be appealing. Holyfield actually agreed … but he added, “I’m done now.” The 59-year-old last fought in September 2021, losing an exhibition match against Vitor Belfort. According to Holyfield, that’ll be the last time he ever steps in a ring for another fight.

Tom Brady is taking some time away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to “deal with personal things,” according to the team’s head coach Todd Bowles. The 45-year-old quarterback missed practice last Thursday, and Bowles told reporters that he will not return until after the team’s second preseason game on August 20. “Tom has been excused today,” Bowles said. “He’ll be back sometime around after Tennessee. He’s going to deal with some personal things.” He continued, “This is something we talked about before training camp started. We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp.” Bowles didn’t elaborate on the reason for Brady’s absence, but remained confident that Brady would be back for the team’s season-opening Week 1 clash against the Dallas Cowboys. Bucs linebacker Devin White said Brady had his team’s full support and understanding. “He’s a grown man — (more grown) than most of us in the locker room, and he’s a human at the end of the day,” White said. “He’s got personal problems going on, but he’s a guy that’s been doing this so long, he (doesn’t) need to be here.” Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that “[t]he scheduled absence has nothing to do with Brady’s or his family members’ health.”

The news that San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance resulting in an 80-game suspension rocked the world of baseball Friday night. It also rocked an organization with World Series aspirations. The Padres went all-in at Major League Baseball’s trade deadline, trading for superstar outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell. The deal immediately catapulted San Diego into the World Series conversation, especially with Tatis Jr. expected to return to the diamond some time in the second half. Tatis missed the first three months of the season recovering from offseason wrist surgery. Just last weekend, Tatis Jr. headed to San Antonio to start his rehab assignment as his 2022 debut neared. The thought of Tatis Jr. next to Soto, Bell and Manny Machado would put fear into any pitcher come October. Now, the Padres will try and recover from the disappointment of losing their All-Star shortstop for the rest of the regular season, the playoffs and a portion of the 2023 season. The Padres inked Tatis Jr. to a massive contract in 2021, agreeing to a 14-year, $340 million extension. It’s the second time in the past few months Tatis Jr. has let down his teammates, with the wrist injury reportedly occurring from an off-season motorcycle accident. In a statement released Friday night, Tatis Jr. said he “inadvertently” took medication in order to treat ringworm that contained Clostebol, a banned substance. Tatis Jr. has decided not to appeal the suspension.

Golf just became much more difficult at two courses in southern France—environmental activists plugged holes with cement, reports the BBC. A group known as Extinction Rebellion claimed responsibility, saying it makes no sense that golf courses get an exemption from watering amid a severe drought. The activists say the exemption shows that “economic madness takes precedence over ecological reason,” and they further denounce golf as a “leisure industry for the most privileged,” per ABC Australia.

In defense: Ordinary households are barred from watering their lawns or washing their cars, but while courses have to use less water than normal, no outright ban is in place for them. “A golf course without a green is like an ice rink without ice,” says Gerard Rougier of the French Golf Federation, adding that 15,000 jobs would be at risk around the nation should courses wither. Activists mocked: Meanwhile, a post at The Golf Business in the UK notes that the activists are being roundly mocked for one aspect of the protest. “Do they know how much water it takes to make cement?” asks one of the online barbs rounded up by the outlet.
