San Antonio arcade bar opens with vintage games and cocktails

Kung Fu Saloon officially opened over the weekend.

Austin-based KPG Hospitality opened its arcade-inspired concept Kung Fu Saloon over the weekend near the company's new beer garden Camp 1604 on the Northwest Side of San Antonio. Kung Fu Saloon, a 21-and-up-only bar, has a range of vintage arcade games, cocktails, and very funny claw machine.

The arcade games vary from basketball, Skee-Ball, a motorcycle game inspired by the Fast and the Furious, Mortal Kombat, Guitar Hero, and a claw machine filled with sex toys (I didn't win anything but my friend snatched a nice prize).

It also has a patio area with a foosball table and Jenga. The music (when I was there) was diverse, ranging from Celine Dion jams and Panic! At the Disco pop hits that patrons sang out loud to.

It also has two karaoke rooms that will cost $50 an hour. The rooms aren't available at this time.

There is no food at the bar, but Kung Fu allows patrons to order DoorDash deliveries, as does Camp 1604.

While open, Kung Fu's new location is still working out some things. There are also two karaoke rooms that will cost $50 an hour. However, they aren't available at this time due to some technical issues, the bar tells MySA. It has a large photobooth that wasn't ready to use when I arrived.

Like its Austin and Dallas outposts, Kung Fu patrons are subject to the "Rules of the Dojo," which is a dress code and house rules taped onto the front door of the new attraction. It lists out what the employees expect from their patrons, such as to "respect your fellow weekend warriors," "resolve any conflict with a pickle shot,"  and "preserve the sexy and dress to impress."

The bar is stocked with a full bar and beers on tap. However, there is no food.

Employees and patrons are to present themselves in an appropriate manner that is conducive to a productive, safe, and fun environment, the sign states. The management of Kung Fu Saloon reserves the right to deny entrance to any person who wears attire such as loosely fitting pants, athletic apparel, and any clothing that promotes discrimination or intolerance.

The brand new arcade bar offers a range of games.

The arcade bar has skee ball, basketball games and more.

Kung Fu is located at 5531 N Loop 1604 W, and is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on the weekends. The dress code is enforced daily from 8 p.m. until closing.
