This guide will explain how you can access and play the Roach Race mini game available in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6 and on mobile devices!

CD Projekt Red released Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.6 on September 6th, 2022. It is the final major content for the last-gen consoles (only current-gen consoles and PC from here on). It brought amazing new features such as the ability to change V’s outfits via the Wardrobe system, new side missions and tons of quality of life updates and bugfixes.

Roach Race is a mini game available in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game as well as a stand-alone mobile game. It’s a side-scrolling platformer developed in collaboration with Crunching Koalas.

It allows you to control Roach, the legendary horse of the witcher Geralt. You have to jump over obstacles and avoid getting hit by enemies while collecting bonus items to increase your personal score.

This title is also released as a stand-alone game for mobile devices. It does not feature any microtransactions. It’s completely free to download on your Android and/or Apple phone or tablet.

You can download the mobile version for Android and iOS. Your high scores in the in-game and mobile versions are separate.

In Cyberpunk 2077 Roach Race is a mini game that you can access from a number of places. One of the easiest locations is probably V’s Northside, Japantown and The Glen apartment. If you need some help, consult my guide on how to access V’s apartments.

Below I have shared an image of the console machine in V’s Northside apartment.

They look the same, no matter where you find them. Here are a few in the BD Shack in Watson, Kabuki:

To start Roach Race, approach the arcade machine and click the corresponding shortcut button to start playing it. On PC the default is “F”.

The game even has a story attached to it. Roach, being the typical buggy horse that we know from The Witcher 3, lands on the roof of a farm building, then jumps to the ground and runs away. Geralt runs after her, trying to catch and stop her.

The gameplay of the mini game Roach Race in Cyberpunk 2077 is extremely easy and very enjoyable. You control the horse Roach by pressing a designated button to jump or double-jump.

Your goal is to lead Roach through as many obstacles and environments as possible, while avoiding griffins, crows and other enemy NPCs, jumping over fences and holes in the ground and so on.

You can also collect bonus points by picking up certain items you find. Often these items will be tricky to get.

When Roach eats a carrot, the horse runs faster for a brief period of time in this “special mode”:

You only have one try. If you fall in a hole in the ground, or get captured by an enemy NPC or fail to jump over a fence or other obstacle, Roach will trip and stop. At this point Geralt catches up with the horse and it’s game over for you.

The game does offer a leaderboard, of course. It will take you “a few attempts” to try and best the top scores, most likely :)))

Shortly after you finish your first race, V receives a message in Cyberpunk 2077 from “CDP Arcades”:

If you are not a fan of The Witcher 3, you may not enjoy the few easter eggs CD Projekt Red has placed in Cyberpunk 2077 involving Geralt’s crazy horse.

Roach was known to have trouble with her (yes, it’s a female horse in the witcher canon) pathfinding often. That’s why the Roach Race starts with Roach dropping on top of a farm building.

The next second Roach drops to the ground in one of her most iconic buggy poses – back legs in the air, as if preparing to kick someone.

This is a popular image that CD Projekt Red turned into a Gwent Card in their stand-alone card game.

Another famous easter egg is the sticker of Roach on one of the cars V can drive in Night City – HELLA EC-D 1360 (V’s first car). You can see the Roach sticker on the right back side of the vehicle.
